Programme Objectives

  • Develop functional proficiency in using Claude Code to understand repositories, implement features, refactor applications, debug failures, create tests, and review software changes.
  • Apply effective task definition, context engineering, CLAUDE.md instructions, memory, and planning techniques to improve performance on complex development work.
  • Use subagents, background execution, and parallel-agent workflows to divide and coordinate larger engineering tasks.
  • Build reusable engineering capabilities using Skills, Hooks, MCP integrations, GitHub workflows, and project-level configuration.
  • Apply testing, checkpoints, permissions, least-privilege access, code review, and human approval to secure and reliable agentic software development.

Concepts
  • Understanding Claude Code as an agentic software-development environment
  • Understanding the agentic loop: inspect, reason, modify, execute, verify, and iterate
  • Understanding Claude Code across CLI, IDE, web, desktop, and remote workflows
  • Understanding access to project files, terminal commands, Git state, and configured tools
  • Differentiating conversational coding assistance from autonomous development tasks
  • Understanding developer accountability for AI-generated changes
Practical activities
  • Starting Claude Code within an approved development project
  • Asking Claude to explore and explain an unfamiliar repository
  • Running a simple development task from requirement to verified change
  • Comparing manual, assisted, and agentic development approaches

Scenarios

Product Requirement to Production-Ready Feature

Product Requirement → Repository Exploration → CLAUDE.md Context → Plan Mode → Implementation Plan → Development → Test Subagent → Hooks → Code Review → GitHub PR → Human Approval

Participants use Claude Code throughout a realistic development lifecycle, from understanding an unfamiliar repository through planning, implementation, testing, automated quality checks, and final repository integration.

Complex Production Defect to Verified Resolution

Production Failure → Logs & Repository Context → Parallel Investigation → Debugging Subagent → Root-Cause Identification → Targeted Fix → Regression Tests → Checkpoint / Diff Review → Verified Resolution

Participants use Claude Code's repository intelligence and delegated-agent capabilities to investigate competing failure hypotheses, identify the underlying cause, implement a controlled correction, and validate the result before release.
