Programme Objectives

  • Understand how Firebase Studio supports AI-assisted application development, code understanding, troubleshooting, testing, and deployment.
  • Explore Gemini-assisted workflows for analysing code, modifying applications, resolving issues, and documenting technical changes.
  • Understand how Firebase services such as Authentication, Cloud Firestore, Hosting, and local emulators fit into application-support workflows.
  • Experience preview, debugging, terminal, and deployment-related capabilities within an existing Firebase Studio workspace.
  • Recognise Firebase Studio's planned sunset and understand migration paths to Google AI Studio or Google Antigravity.

TOC Modules

Concepts
  • Understanding Firebase Studio as a cloud-based AI-assisted development environment
  • Understanding the code workspace, Gemini assistance, terminal, previews, and Firebase integrations
  • Identifying IT applications across development, support, troubleshooting, testing, and deployment
  • Understanding where AI assistance complements technical expertise rather than replacing it
Practical activities
  • Exploring an existing Firebase Studio workspace
  • Reviewing project files, workspace structure, terminal, and available tools
  • Mapping IT Requirement → Firebase Studio Capability → Technical Outcome

Scenarios

Application Issue to Validated Technical Resolution

Application Issue → Firebase Studio Preview → Console / Terminal Evidence → Gemini-Assisted Analysis → Code Change → Retest → Technical Validation

Participants investigate a realistic application-support issue, apply a controlled correction, and verify that expected application behaviour has been restored.

Existing Application to Deployment & Migration Readiness

Existing Firebase Studio Workspace → Code & Firebase Service Review → Preview Testing → Deployment Configuration → Security Check → Migration Assessment → Recommended Next Step

Participants review an existing Firebase Studio application and determine its technical readiness for continued deployment and migration to Google's supported long-term development environment.

## Current Capability Reference

Firebase Studio currently allows **existing users** to continue developing, testing, and deploying applications in existing workspaces until **March 22, 2027**. New workspace creation and new-user signup were disabled on **June 22, 2026**. Google recommends migration to **Google AI Studio** for web-based rapid prototyping or **Google Antigravity** for code-first agentic development.

Existing Firebase Studio workspaces continue to provide built-in development tools, terminal access, AI assistance, web and Android previews, Hot Reload, Full Reload, and Hard Restart.

Firebase Studio can also publish supported applications through **Firebase Hosting or Cloud Run**, while core Firebase services such as **Cloud Firestore, Authentication, and App Hosting remain unaffected by the Firebase Studio sunset**.
