## Current Capability Reference

Copilot Studio currently supports enterprise grounding through **knowledge sources**, including Power Platform and Dynamics data, websites, documents, and external systems. Microsoft also supports Copilot connectors that index external enterprise content into Microsoft Graph while respecting the underlying source permissions.

For document-heavy legal and compliance scenarios, uploaded knowledge sources currently support formats including **Word, Excel, PowerPoint, PDF, text, CSV, XML, JSON, YAML, and other common document formats**. Microsoft allows up to 500 uploaded files per agent, subject to current platform limitations and configuration.

Current **generative orchestration** uses an LLM-driven planning layer to interpret user intent and select appropriate knowledge, topics, tools, agents, and actions. Microsoft specifically describes guardrails and approval handling for sensitive actions, which makes decision-boundary design important for legal and compliance deployments.

**Agent flows** provide deterministic automation for repetitive processes and can include conditions, connectors, AI capabilities, and **human-in-the-loop actions such as approvals or requests for additional information**. This makes them suitable for controlled evidence, acknowledgement, review, and remediation workflows.

Copilot Studio's current **agent evaluation** framework supports repeatable testing of agent responses and can measure dimensions including general quality, expected meaning, keywords, and expected tool usage. Microsoft explicitly notes that evaluation measures quality and correctness but does **not replace responsible-AI, ethics, or safety review**.

For enterprise governance, Copilot Studio uses **Power Platform environments** to separate data, security roles, permitted connectors, knowledge sources, and development/test/production lifecycles. Administrators can enforce data policies, restrict unauthenticated usage, connectors and knowledge sources, control generative-AI publishing, and apply additional data-protection measures.

**Legal & Compliance Principle:** Copilot Studio should support **information retrieval, policy navigation, workflow execution, evidence organization, reminders, and decision preparation**. Final legal interpretation, privilege determinations, regulatory conclusions, compliance sign-off, contractual commitments, and other consequential decisions should remain with appropriately authorized human professionals.
